🌱 Potting Mix Guide – Compost & Cocopeat Ratios
🪴 1. Indoor Plants
(Money Plant, Areca Palm, Philodendron, Peace Lily, etc.)
-
50% Cocopeat → keeps moisture, reduces watering frequency
-
30% Compost → steady nutrition
-
20% Perlite / Sand / Soil → drainage + minerals
💡 Indoor plants like light, airy mixes. Too much compost makes it dense → risk of root rot.
🌸 2. Flowering Plants
(Hibiscus, Rose, Marigold, Bougainvillea, etc.)
-
40% Garden soil / Red soil → structure & weight
-
30% Compost → nutrients for flowering
-
30% Cocopeat → moisture holding
💡 Flowering plants are nutrient-hungry, so add a handful of extra compost or vermicompost every 20–30 days.
🥕 3. Vegetables
(Tomato, Chilli, Beans, Cucumber, Leafy greens, etc.)
-
40% Cocopeat → airy root zone + water retention
-
40% Compost → rich nutrients
-
20% Soil / Sand / Perlite → minerals + drainage
💡 Vegetables are heavy feeders – supplement with neem cake, bone meal, or liquid seaweed spray every 15–20 days.
📌 Example Mix per 12-inch Pot (8–10 kg mix)

-
Flowering plant: 3 kg soil + 2 kg compost + 2 kg cocopeat
-
Vegetable: 3 kg cocopeat + 3 kg compost + 1.5 kg soil
